  • Carbon Development Partner

    Business & Operations / Full-time

    About the role:
    We’re hiring for a key role that will support the development of ARR carbon partnerships and projects with Pachama, ensuring carbon finance and project development expertise goes to projects providing real climate benefits. This new role will be in charge of managing NBS carbon projects in Pachama’s portfolio, developing and refining project plans, coordinate due diligence of projects under development and manage projects’ budgets, identify potential risks, oversee implementation activities, and coordinate with local communities to facilitate on-the-ground activities, among other things.
    Additionally, this new role will support in the creation and growth of commercial relationships with partners who have new or existing forest carbon projects. The Project Development Partner will assist in closing critical commercial deals and build relationships with strategic project proponents. Our ideal candidate will be bilingual (Spanish and English or Portuguese and English) and have existing experience in carbon markets, forest carbon projects, and corporate climate commitments as well as strong business development experience and the drive to create durable partnerships that benefit people, nature, and climate.
    The new role will be a key member of Pachama’s supply team and work globally with project proponents including communities, project developers, and large NGOs. The position will report to the Senior Carbon Developer of Brazil.

  • Carbon Project Success Lead

    Business & Operations / Full-time

    Pachama is looking for a Project Success Lead to manage the implementation of our carbon projects across Mexico and the US. In this role you’ll be responsible, alongside our Origination Operations team, for planning, supporting and managing execution of all project implementation and oversight activities. You will help to build holistic strategies for project success and quality, deepen our relationships with project partners, improve our standards and procedures, and provide oversight to ensure that our Originals projects are on track to issue the highest quality credits.You would be excited about this role if you love the idea of working on the ground with diverse stakeholders, and managing complex projects.     Location This role is fully remote. However, being located in North America is required given that the role will involve frequently traveling to project sites.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining systems that powering our platforms and their AI and remote sensing insights. Your work will enable our customers to identify and support high-quality nature-based projects, driving positive environmental impact.

    You'll be working alongside a team of sustainability experts, forest scientists, machine learning experts, designers, and engineers to understand stakeholder needs and deliver high-quality, delightful products. The products you’ll be creating will touch a wide range of audiences in the carbon credit and forest carbon project space from the environmentally responsible corporations and individuals to the forest projects themselves.

    We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge data systems backing our products for our mission to restore and protect the planet's forests. As a leader on the DMRV (Digital measurement, reporting, and verification) team, you will build, scale and deploy systems for ingesting, storing and computing the data powering our AI and Remote Sensing insights and are responsible for delivering those data insights to our customers to enable them to identify and originate the highest quality nature-based projects.
    A typical day includes collaborating across engineering and science teams to understand new dataset ingest pathways for model or algorithm features, writing code to support efficient compute and scalable transformation and algorithms to unlock insights over project data, designing systems for easy data access and experimentation pathways, pair coding with other engineers to raise the standards and bar on our technical work, and roadmapping core improvements to our data, compute or measurement stack.

    Pachama is looking for a Forest Carbon Science Manager to direct the team of forest and spatial scientists who evaluate, design, and provide tools for Pachama’s portfolio of forest carbon projects. The Forest Carbon Science Manager is responsible for defining standards, methods, and processes to implement Pachama’s Quality Standard, which is used to assess the climate, social, and ecological integrity of NBS projects issuing credits for the Voluntary Carbon Market. 

    The Manager will also conduct spatial assessments for carbon projects that use Pachama’s remote sensing tools and analytics. This position reports to the VP of Science. You would be excited about this role if you love the idea of moving fast with a high degree of independence in a growing start-up. You have 7+ years of experience using science for forest conservation, restoration, and management, and expertise in using remote sensing and geospatial data to derive insights about forest dynamics. You understand carbon accounting and are familiar with the major components of the Voluntary Carbon Market.

    You love to problem solve and are comfortable leading cross-functional efforts that require project management, strategic planning, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You enjoy communicating with others and are excited to speak to findings with a variety of team members.
